GEO ALLIANCE Group initiated setting up Association of Gas Producers of Ukraine

GEO ALLIANCE, one of the seven largest gas producers in Ukraine accounting for 88% of the total Ukrainian natural gas production, took the lead in starting an industry association – Association of Gas Producers of Ukraine (AGPU).

Six private companies and one state-owned enterprise united and formed AGPU. Their objective is to achieve energy independence of Ukraine by increasing domestic production of natural gas, creating favourable investment climate and implementing the industry global best practices.

The Association set itself a number of tasks including:

– development and implementation of policies, programmes and projects contributing to Ukraine’s energy independence including in gas industry;

– cooperation with the government authorities and local governments of the central and regional levels on statutory regulation of fundamentals of Ukraine’s gas industry functioning;

– cooperation with international organizations and institutions in order to implement European norms of energy market regulation;

– facilitation of creation of an effective regulatory framework in Ukraine to improve the efficiency of gas industry functioning;

– encouragement of innovative activities, new ideas, initiatives, introduction of new technologies in the Ukrainian gas industry;

– contribution to implementation of new programmes and techniques of environmentally friendly gas production.
